The Boys' Junior Varsity finished 2nd by only 3 points, and several of our JV runners finished in the top 10.
This wraps up the 2007 XC season, and it was an excellent one. Congratulations to all of the runners.
Nike Team Nationals

The Boys' Varsity finished 8th in the Nike Team National Southeastern Regional on Saturday. The 7 teams in front of them were top 9 in the regional rankings, giving Green Hope a chance at a final top 10 ranking. The boys also beat the NC 4A State Champions, Broughton, by 68 points.
Cross Country Banquet

The GHXC Banquet will be held at the Green Hope Commons on Tuesday, November 6th. Bring a side dish to share (Please, no nuts in any of the side dishes).
Drinks, dessert and Honeybaked Ham will be provided.
We hope to see everyone Tuesday as we celebrate a GREAT season.
State Meet

The Boys finished 3rd on Saturday at the State Meet in Clemmons, and the girls finished 8th. Overall, it was not quite as good a day as we had hoped, but the 2007 was a good year for GHXC, and both teams can be proud of their accomplishments.
Regional Results

For those of you who could not make it to the meet, it was a great day for Green Hope XC at SAS Park. The boys team won its 3rd Regional Title in 5 years by edging out #1 ranked Enloe and beating #2 ranked Brougton and #4 ranked Chapel Hill. There were several PRs and tough performances from all!
The girls team finished 4th, beating out Athens Drive and Apex for the final State qualifying spot. This is the 6th straight year the girls have made it to States - congratulations girls! Lets keep up the good work.
The State Meet will be at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, just west of Winston-Salem, next weekend. For those racing, we are not going to spend the night, as the boys don't race until 2:30 and the girls race at 3:30.
Conference Meet Information

The Tri-8 Conference meet will be held on Wednesday, October 17th at Bond Park. The Boys Varsity will run at 4:00, followed by the Girls Varsity at 4:30, the Boys JV at 5:00 and the Girls JV at 5:20. The awards presentation will follow the Girls JV race and will take place at the band shell.
Important: Do not park at the Community Center! Due to the large number of spectators for the meet, the Community Center parking lot fills up, making it difficult for people attending activities at the Community Center to park. Parking is available at the boat house and at the shelter down by the ball fields (where the kids usually meet to run).
Seahawk Invitational

It was a day of mixed results at the Seahawk Invitational in Wilmington. Green Hope won both the Boys and Girls JV races over nearly 50 other teams, and several runners set PRs. The Boys Varsity placed 3rd out of 26 teams with the top 6 all setting PRs (all between 16:18-16:48), but the Girls Varisty finished in 14th place (behind fellow Tri-8 teams Apex, Cary and Athens Drive).
Charlotte Invitational

There were about 25 teams in Charlotte, and the Boys Varsity, Boys JV and Girls JV all won, with the Girls Varsity finishing 3rd behind 2 of the top 20 teams in the Southeastern US. This was a very impressive performance.
Highlights:
- Great Pack Times! Girls Varsity spread was 42 seconds, Boys Varsity was 31 seconds, Girls JV was 68 seconds and the Boys JV was an incredible 17 seconds!
- Freshman Meaghan Michael won her first high school race by beating a field of 137 runners in the Girls JV race; Stephan Baulch edged out Matt Wilkie and Taylor Dunham to win the Boys JV race.
- The Boys Varsity placed 6 runners in under 17:15 on a very hot day with temperatures around 100 degrees and high humidity.
- The Girls Varsity was led by Morgan Youd as they used a solid pack to finish 3rd out or 21 teams.
